ABout Khuvsgul Lake Tour
Lake Hövsgöl, like other tour packages, is a popular tourist destination. The main attraction of the Hövsgöl trip is Lake Hövsgöl, which is the largest freshwater lake in Mongolia. On the shores of Lake Hövsgöl, one of the 17 oldest lakes on the planet and one of the clearest lakes in the world, we offer you a truly relaxing and adventurous trip. The trip will also includes the most beautiful extinct volcano in Mongolia, Uran Togoo Mountain. In addition, if you wish, you can travel to the extended East Taiga to meet the Tsaatan people and spend a night in reindeer herd camp. In the Eastern Taiga comes the summer camp inhabited by the Tsaachin people. Tsaatan: It has the largest number of Tsaatan or Tuvans in Mongolia. Currently, there are more than 300 registered Tsaatan households in the country.
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar - Amarbayasgalant khiid - Uran togoo
From city Ulaanbaatar, drive to Uran Togoo base in Khutag-Undur soum, Bulgan aimag. On the way, we will visit Amarbayasgalant Monastery and then stay at a tourist camp near Uran Togoon. Amarbayasgalant Monastery: By order of the Manchu Nairalt Tuv Khan, the buildings of the monastery were built on the site of the Great Khuree at the time in memory of Undur Gegeen Zanabazar. Construction began in 1727 and was completed in 1736. During the Great Repression of 1937, the monastery building was severely damaged. There were more than 40 churches and temples with walls 207 m long and 175 m wide.
Day 2: Urna togoo - Murun City - Ulaan Uul Soum
After breakfast, drive to Murun, the capital of Khuvsgul province. On the way we will have lunch and then go to Ulaan Uul soum. From Mörön to Ulaan Uul soum, there is a 170 km off-road road. Cross the 13 ovoos of Ul and enjoy the beautiful nature of Khoridol Saridag Mountain. In the evening, we will spend the night at a guesthouse in the tourist camp.
Day 3: Ulaan Uul - East Taiga
After breakfast, drive to Tsagaan Nuur soum (100 km). Have lunch on the way. When you arrive in Tsagaan Nuur soum, you will go to the border checkpoint to register and meet local guides and cargo horses at the mouth of the Teleg. Prepare your luggage and walk 4-6 hours to the Eastern Taiga. As for the road conditions, we need to be well prepared for hiking on muddy roads. In the afternoon, we will visit the Tsaachin summer camp in the Eastern Taiga and spend a night in reindeer herd.
Day 4: Taiga
It is a day to get up early and get to know the lifestyle of the reindeer herders, their cultural features and traditions. You can also visit a local shaman to learn more about this unique tradition. If there is a coincidence of the moon and stars on that day, it is possible to cast a spell in the evening.
Day 5: Taiga - Khogorgo River - White Lake
After breakfast, load your luggage on your horse and walk 5-6 hours to Khogorgiin Am. We will meet our drivers in the Khogorgiin Aman, get in our car and drive to Tsagaan Nuur soum. Take a dip in the tourist camp on the shores of White Nuur and relax.
Day 6: White Lake - Khuvsgul Lake
After getting up early in the morning and drinking tea, we will move to Lake Hövsgöl. It takes 8-10 hours to travel 290 km from Tsagaan Nuur soum to Lake Hövsgöl with a lot of mud puddles. Lunch will be wrapped in food. In the evening, you will stay at a luxury tourist camp on the shores of Lake Hövsgöl.
Day 7: Khuvsgul Lake
Lake Hövsgöl is located in the northern province of Hövsgöl in Mongolia and it is the largest and deepest lake in Mongolia. Lake Hövsgöl is one of the seventeen ancient lakes in the world. It is estimated to be over 2 million years old. The total volume of water is 381 km³, which is equivalent to 0.4% of the world's fresh water. It travels a total distance of 1,000 km and empties into Lake Baikal in Russia. The direct distance between the two lakes is only 200 km.
Day 8: Khuvsgul Lake - Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast drive to Ulaanbaatar. We will cover 800 km of paved road in 10-12 hours and arrive in Ulaanbaatar. On the way we will have lunch in Erdenet city and have short city tour. Arriving in Ulaanbaatar in the evening will be the end our memorable trip.
